Dishonored released earlier this month to rave reviews from critics and fans alike; and today Bethesda and Arkane Studios announced the first of three pieces of DLC. Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials DLC will be released sometime in December and will retail for $4.99 or 400 MS Points. Dunwall City Trials DLC will include 10 challenge maps where the player will be forced to put his or her combat, mobility and stealth skills to the test.

The trials will consist of “fighting waves of attackers and pulling off drop assassinations to racing against the clock.” In addition, there will be leader boards and brand new achievements included in the Dunwall City Trials DLC.

The second piece of DLC will be released sometime next year, supposedly early spring but no official release date has been confirmed. It will be a story driven piece of DLC that will focus on “Daud, the leader of a group of supernatural assassins called The Whalers”. The second piece of DLC will also add new locations inside Dunwall, new weapons, new powers, as well as new gadgets to help you complete your missions.

Unfortunately, the only thing we can officially confirm about the third piece of Dishonored DLC is that it will also be story driven. However, we do know that all three pieces of DLC will be released at the same time on the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

I would have to say that after playing through all of Dishonored, it was probably the most fun I have had with a game all year. I love games that allow you the choice of approaching missions any way you want and Dishonored delivered everything I could have hoped for.

As for the DLC, I would say that having two pieces of story driven content sounds good to me; especially if Arkane Studios creates entire new levels for us to traverse through for the new missions. Not to mention at the end of the game there were still some minor story related questions that were not answered, so I hope that at least one of these two pieces of DLC is able to tie up all the loose ends.

Have you played Dishonored, and if you have what did you think of the game?
