Not that anyone actually used it, but the Twitter and Facebook social media Apps have been removed from the Dashboard. According to The Verge, an unnamed source who was involved in the matter said that the Apps were removed so that the users will be more inclined to use the new browser.
Internet Explorer is universally renowned as being a bad browser, with the majority of internet users preferring instead to use Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari. The Internet Explorer feature is available now in all recently updated Xbox 360.Strangely enough though, if you already had the Apps installed prior to the update, then you may continue use them, but new members must go through the browser.
Both groups are still advertised on the OXW but they are no longer available for download through the market place.
Strangely enough though, the social media giants Twitter and Facebook are both still prominently advertised on the OXW despite the fact that they are now unavailable as an Xbox 360 Application. As of yet, Microsoft have given no reason as to why they are still advertising a service which is now, probably never going to see use on their console, nor have they commented on what they have planned for social media in the future. As per usual the forums are buzzing and some folks are speculating that Smart Glass implication may include a live action twitter feed dedicated exclusively to the current game being played with achievements being earned or XP bonuses given to users that update regularly, just rumours but an interesting one nonetheless.
