After the mind-blowing Nintendo Direct special on Animal Crossing: Jump Out! a couple of weeks ago I’m surprised there’s even anything left to announce. Thanks to an update from the game’s official website and the helpful folks over at NeoGaf who translated the info, there’s still more exciting details.
Firstly, the StreetPass functionality has been explained. In the game, you will earn badges from a character called Palotini, who rewards you for catching fish, pulling weeds and other errands. These badges will be displayed on your profile, which can be seen by other players you SteetPass with.
Animal Crossing has always been about working hard and setting your own goals, and Jump Out! centralises the theme more than ever with the addition of community work. While it wasn’t specified what this work would entail, it will help you build a second floor in the museum. This extra floor opens the museum gift shop and a room where you can hold your own custom exhibition.
Working hard will also open the fortune teller hut, presumably hosted by the series’ fortune teller Katrina. Following your fortune and holding a lucky item with you can mean good things may happen to you.
You can also work part-time at Brewster’s cafe if you become a regular customer, rewarding you unique furniture. You can also order coffee to take out, though its uncertain whether there are any benefits for doing so.
You can look up to see new attractions in the sky. On top of balloons with presents and shooting stars, you might also see a rainbow after it rains, aurora on cold nights, and cumulonimbus clouds in the summer.
Fruit now has different flavours and appearances, and you can play games with villagers you’ve become friends with such as hide and seek and rock, paper, scissors. Again, you’ll be rewarded with items if you successfully find all the hiding players. Villager portraits from Wild World also return - good friends will send you a special letter with a photo attached, that you can place in your house.
