Capcom has confirmed a pre-release demo is in the works for the upcoming Devil May Cry reboot DmC.

There is no specific release date yet, but Joystiq reveals that producer Alex Jones told fans at a Comic Con panel that the demo will arrive before the DmC release date of January 15th 2013. The demo will release on consoles, though there’s no word of a PC demo yet.

Also confirmed is the return of Mundus, the main antagonist of original Devil May Cry. Set before the events of the first game, Mundus is of course still ruler of the underworld in DmC. Dante’s rival brother Vergil’s inclusion as a playable character was questioned, with Jones stating that a playable Vergil “will not be on the disc” and Capcom has no firm plans either way. Perhaps a hint at future downloadable content?

Fans will learn more of the brothers’ parents in the new title, and “a few novelty modes” will unlock after beating the game.

The New York Comic Con 2012 trailer is also now online, featuring a strong action-focussed direction. The series’ iconic use of heavy metal returns in the trailer’s brutal soundtrack.

I’m excited for the game, but I’m noticing a significant amount of dislikes yet again on the YouTube video. Really guys, are we still not over the new hairstyle?
